The role holder will join a team of architects providing domain expertise across the University portfolio.
You should be highly motivated and enthusiastic about working in a fast paced and constantly changing environment. You will have the ability to adapt to rapid changes in the standard infrastructure that supports and delivers core services. You will need to show a strong ability to develop your skills with the minimum of external input and be able to work in a highly autonomous fashion. It is critical that you have significant experience of designing and architecting infrastructures related to On-premise, Cloud and Hybrid services, previous experience of Solution Architecture design for complex IT projects and be up to date on the wide variety of technologies, patterns, and tools.
You will possess an extensive technical breadth through experience in the IT industry. This breadth should be in areas of Infrastructure, Networking, Mobility and Security, and in the areas of creation and maintenance of the infrastructure to support the complex application environment. You will be proficient in the techniques that go into producing designs of complex systems, including requirements discovery and analysis, formulation of solution context, identification of solution alternatives and their assessment, technology selection, and design.
You would be expected to work with the colleagues in the wider architecture team and a large Programme team on the strategy, design, implementation, and management of the University’s estate spanning multiple data centers. You are therefore expected to be proficient in the techniques that go into producing designs of complex systems, including requirements discovery and analysis, formulation of solution context, identification of solution alternatives and their assessment, technology selection, and design. You will be expected to create closer, more collaborative relationships with key suppliers in order to maximise the value of those relationships.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are essential to the role. You will be at ease communicating in person, by phone and email, with the ability to communicate at all levels. You must be committed to delivering an excellent level of customer service for staff and students, while also meeting the organization’s strategic goals and financial objectives.
Suitable applicants must have a degree relevant to IT Services or vocational experience which demonstrates equivalent professional development. ITILv3 Foundation Diploma is desirable.
